USDMXN weekly recap: peso firms as pair slips to 17.3334, 2026-07-27

USDMXN closed the week at 17.3334, down from a 17.4366 open, as broad dollar softness pulled the pair lower after a mid-week high near 17.5364.

Where XRPUSD closed the week

XRPUSD opened the week at 1.1102 and closed Friday at 1.0770. That is a net loss of roughly 332 pips, or about 2.99 percent. The range told the real story. Monday dropped price from a 1.1120 high down to 1.0600, and Tuesday extended the low to 1.0425 before buyers stepped in. The recovery lifted price to a Thursday high of 1.0923, then Friday drifted back to close mid-range.

What moved price

The bundle carries no scheduled crypto-specific events for the closing week, so the move was driven by broad market flow rather than a single XRP catalyst. The dominant tape came from currency markets. USD/JPY extended a rebound above 160 after an intervention play and the BOJ decision, and the Americas session on 30 July saw USD/JPY move sharply lower on intervention speculation. That two-sided dollar volatility spilled into risk assets and matched the sharp Monday selloff in XRPUSD.

Risk appetite recovered midweek as commodity currencies firmed. NZD/USD and AUD/USD both traded higher on 30 July, and USD/CAD marked a new low going back to 17 June. That softer dollar tone lined up with XRPUSD's climb off 1.0425 toward 1.0923.

The week ahead

The bundle lists no high-impact scheduled events for the upcoming week for this asset. With no fixed calendar catalyst, watch the broad dollar tape and the correlated crypto majors instead. If the dollar keeps softening in the way it did late this week, risk assets like XRPUSD tend to hold their recovery attempts. If dollar strength returns on renewed intervention flows, the Monday-style flush is the pattern to respect. You can track how Bitcoin trades as a lead indicator for the broader crypto complex.

Positioning

LHFX client positioning shows 69.4 percent long against 30.6 percent short as of 31 July. That is a heavy long skew. Consensus is leaning into the bounce off 1.0425. A crowded long book means that if price fails to hold its recovery levels, stop-driven selling can accelerate a move lower faster than the fundamentals alone would suggest.

Levels to watch

The Thursday high at 1.0923 is the first ceiling. If price closes above it, the prior Monday open zone near 1.1102 comes back into view. On the downside, the Friday close at 1.0770 is the pivot. If price loses that and the 1.0661 area, the Tuesday low at 1.0425 is back in play.
