About Ripple / US Dollar

XRP is the native token of the XRP Ledger (XRPL), an open-source blockchain originally developed by Ripple Labs starting in 2012. The XRP Ledger uses a consensus protocol designed for fast, low-cost cross-border payments and tokenisation, settling transactions in seconds at fractions of a cent. XRP itself is the asset used to pay transaction fees on the ledger and to serve as a bridge currency between fiat pairs. Ripple Labs (the company) is the largest holder and primary commercial partner of the XRP Ledger, using XRP as the asset behind its On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) product for cross-border bank payments. The SEC sued Ripple in December 2020 alleging XRP was an unregistered security; a US court ruled in July 2023 that programmatic XRP sales on exchanges are not securities, while institutional contractual sales were. Appeals and remedies-phase litigation have continued, but the core retail-secondary-market status of XRP in the US is clarified. At LHFX you trade XRP as a CFD on the XRP/USD pair. You profit or lose based on XRP/USD price movement. You never own the underlying XRP, do not need an XRP wallet, and have no exposure to escrow releases or Ripple corporate actions directly. Settlement is in USD. The CFD trade-offs match other crypto CFDs. Leverage up to 1:100 available, short positions available directly, no native ownership component.

What moves XRPUSD

  • 01Ripple v SEC litigation outcomes. Every ruling, appeal, and settlement filing in Ripple-related cases moves XRP price. The July 2023 ruling on programmatic sales was a major catalyst; further appeals and remedies decisions continue to drive volatility.
  • 02Bank partnership and ODL adoption. Announcements of new banks or payment corridors integrating XRP for cross-border settlement are price-positive catalysts.
  • 03Escrow releases. Ripple holds a large XRP escrow and releases tranches on a known schedule (typically 1 billion XRP monthly, with most returned to escrow). Calendar-driven supply expectations affect short-term price.
  • 04Regulatory clarity in non-US jurisdictions. Singapore, Japan, UAE, and EU treatment of XRP and Ripple products drive jurisdiction-specific demand.
  • 05Spot XRP ETF speculation. Spot XRP ETF filings have begun appearing in the US; approval timing is a potential catalyst comparable to the BTC and ETH ETF cycles.

How to trade XRPUSD at LHFX

Open an LHFX account, fund it, and add XRPUSD to your MT5 Market Watch. Spreads are raw with $3 per side commission, and 1:100 leverage is available. XRP volatility is moderately lower than smaller alt-L1s and roughly comparable to ETH on a percentage basis. Daily 3 to 5% moves are routine; 10%-plus days happen on litigation or regulatory news. Size your position to your account. A reasonable starting size is one where a 10% adverse XRP move costs no more than 2 to 3% of your account. XRP can decouple sharply from BTC and ETH around litigation and Ripple-specific news. Set a stop loss before entry; news events can move XRP 10% in minutes during low-liquidity hours. Worked example. On a $1,000 account at a $0.60 XRP price, opening positions worth 1,000 XRP exposure costs roughly $6 in margin (1,000 × $0.60 × 1% margin). A 10% adverse move on that position costs $60, or 6% of your account. Adjust the position size down to fit your account's risk tolerance.

Risks specific to XRPUSD

XRP carries a unique regulatory risk profile relative to other major cryptos because of the ongoing Ripple v SEC litigation and related cases. Final remedy outcomes, appeals, and parallel cases in other jurisdictions can move XRP 10% or more on single news events. XRP also has a concentrated supply structure. Ripple Labs holds a large escrow that releases monthly. Most of the released XRP returns to escrow, but the supply expectations create a structural sell-pressure narrative that periodically resurfaces. Mitigations. Around any major Ripple-related court date or filing, expect higher volatility and consider sizing down. Set a stop loss on every position. Do not add to losers, especially after adverse rulings (price action tends to follow through). Start at effective leverage of 1:10 or below until you understand XRP's specific volatility profile.
