The week for EURUSD opened at 1.15432 on Monday and closed near 1.15219 on Friday. The high came in at 1.15591 on Wednesday and Thursday, and the low printed at 1.14998 early on Monday. That leaves a net move of about 21 pips lower across the week, a range of roughly 59 pips top to bottom. Price spent most of its time inside the 1.1500 to 1.1560 band.
The dollar firmed into the back half of the week. According to the Asia-Pacific FX wrap on 6 August, the greenback moved higher alongside rising yields ahead of the US jobs report. That pressure showed in the Thursday candle, where EURUSD rejected 1.15591 and slid back to close at 1.15236.
A firmer yuan reference rate from the PBOC kept a broad dollar-bid tone in the background. That backdrop helped cap the euro even after its midweek push toward 1.1559, and the pair drifted lower through Thursday and into a thin Friday session.
The bundle carries no scheduled high-impact events for the upcoming week. With the calendar quiet, watch how price reacts to residual momentum from the US jobs report and any surprise central bank commentary. If dollar strength continues, the euro stays pressured toward the lower end of this week's range. If yields ease and the dollar bid fades, the euro has room to retest the week's highs. LHFX client positioning sits at 52.1 percent long and 47.9 percent short as of 7 August. That is a near-even split with a slight long lean. A skew this shallow tells you there is no strong consensus. Traders are close to balanced, which often coincides with the kind of range-bound action this week produced.
The week's high at 1.15591 is the first ceiling. If price closes above it, the round 1.1600 handle comes into view. On the downside, the Monday low at 1.14998 sits just under the 1.1500 figure. A daily close below there puts the low back in play. The 1.15219 close acts as a near-term pivot between those two extremes. For a similar dollar read, watch how GBP/USD handles its own resistance, since the two often move in step.
