USDTRY midweek: grinding up to 49.81 near highs, 2026-10-26

Where USDTRY stands midweek
USDTRY closed Wednesday at 49.81287 after opening the week at 49.72117 on Monday. That is a gain of about 0.0917, roughly 0.18 percent on the week so far. The high stands at 49.82743, printed Wednesday, and the low at 49.60233 from Monday's session. Three days in, the pair has barely stretched.
What has driven price so far
No Turkish data point in this week's bundle has moved the pair. The grind higher has come from the dollar side and from carry. The clearest marker on Wednesday was the PBOC setting its USD/CNY mid-point weaker than the Reuters estimate looked for, and the dollar stayed bid through the Asian session. The same tone showed up elsewhere: AUD/USD failed to clear key resistance even with a hot Australian CPI and a hawkish RBA behind it. Wednesday volume in USDTRY came in at 412 against 5372 on Tuesday, so the latest leg up was made on thin participation.
What's still ahead
There are no scheduled high-impact events in our calendar for the back half of this week on this pair. That changes what you are trading. Without a catalyst, the drift and the range edges carry more weight than usual, and thin volume like Wednesday's can exaggerate a push through a prior high. If the dollar keeps the firmer tone seen in Wednesday's Asian session and USDTRY holds above 49.72, the week's 49.82743 high is the obvious friction point. If the dollar bid fades and price slips back under Monday's 49.72 open, the 49.60 low from Monday comes back into the conversation.
The level that matters today
49.83 is the line right now. Wednesday's high at 49.82743 sits just under the round 49.85 handle, and Tuesday's 49.82498 high was rejected in almost the same spot, so there are two days of supply stacked in that pocket. A daily close above it on real volume opens the ground toward 50.00. A failure there with price back below 49.72 puts the Monday low at 49.60233 in play, and that is the floor the week was built on.
