ETHUSD midweek: holding near 1905 with the Fed on deck, 2026-07-27

ETHUSD sits near 1905 midweek, down from Monday's open, as traders wait on the FOMC decision Wednesday evening and US GDP plus core PCE Thursday.

Where XAUUSD stands midweek

Gold is trading at 4035.82 as of Wednesday's close, down about 58 dollars, or 1.4 percent, from Monday's open at 4094.01. The high so far this week came Monday at 4116. The low came Tuesday at 4011.18. You are looking at a market that sold off hard early and has since crept back toward the middle of that range on XAUUSD.

What has driven price so far

The bundle carries no scheduled events or headlines for this week, so the move is being driven by flow rather than a data print. Monday opened at 4094.01 and closed weak at 4073.16. Tuesday extended the drop, opening at 4073.18 and closing at 4024.87 after tagging 4011.18. Wednesday's session has been quieter, with volume at 51,896 against Tuesday's 189,214, and price recovering to 4035.82. The selling pressure has eased, but the week's direction is still lower.

What's still ahead

The calendar in this bundle is empty for the back half of the week. With no high-impact release scheduled, the two remaining sessions come down to whether Wednesday's recovery has legs. If gold holds above the Tuesday low of 4011.18 into Thursday, the range from this week stays intact and the 4040 area becomes the pivot to watch. If sellers return and that low gives way, the market opens fresh downside room below 4010. Silver, tracked at XAGUSD, is worth watching alongside for confirmation of any metals-wide move.

Positioning right now

As of Wednesday morning, 56.1 percent of positioning is long and 43.9 percent is short. That is a modest tilt toward the upside even after two down sessions. The read midweek is that most traders are treating the pullback as a dip rather than a trend reversal, but the skew is far from lopsided, so consensus is thin.

The level that matters today

The line in the sand is Tuesday's low at 4011.18, with the round 4000 handle sitting just beneath it. If price stays above 4011 and pushes through 4040, the recovery from Wednesday gains traction toward Monday's 4073 close. If 4011 breaks, 4000 comes into focus and the week's low is back in play. You can watch both levels as the session develops on an LHFX account.
