USDMXN weekly recap: peso firms as pair slips to 17.3334, 2026-07-27

USDMXN closed the week at 17.3334, down from a 17.4366 open, as broad dollar softness pulled the pair lower after a mid-week high near 17.5364.

Where GER30 closed the week

The week opened at 25319.3 for GER30. Price stretched to a weekly high of 25735.2 and dipped no lower than 25176.3 on Monday. The close landed at 25729.7, near the top of the range. That is a net gain of about 410 points, close to 1.6 percent from open to close.

What moved price

The bundle carries no economic events or headlines for the closing week, so the story sits in the tape itself. Monday and Tuesday built a base above 25400. Wednesday sold off to 25266.5 before buyers stepped back in. Thursday did the heavy lifting, running from an open of 25433 to a close of 25715.7 on the week's second highest volume reading.

Friday's session was thin, with volume far below the rest of the week, yet price held its ground between 25648.7 and 25735.2. That quiet drift near the highs kept the weekly close firm. German large caps tracked the broader risk tone seen across peers like the Nasdaq 100.

The week ahead

The bundle lists no scheduled high-impact events for the coming week. Without a data catalyst on the calendar, price action tends to lean on technical levels and the prevailing trend. Watch for any surprise releases from the eurozone that land outside the provided schedule, since an unexpected inflation or sentiment print can shift risk appetite quickly. Hotter growth data typically supports the index; a cooler read can invite profit taking after a strong run.

Positioning

Sentiment shows 61.6 percent of positions long against 38.4 percent short as of 2026-07-31. That skew leans bullish and matches the direction of the weekly move. A crowded long book can cut both ways. It confirms the trend, but it also leaves more traders exposed to a sharp reversal if support gives way.

Levels to watch

The weekly high at 25735.2 is the first line in the sand. If price closes above it, the round 25800 area is the next obvious reference. If it rejects there, Thursday's open near 25433 comes back into focus. A deeper slip puts Wednesday's low at 25266.5 in play. You can track these levels live when you open an account with LHFX and follow the index in real time.
