SPX500 midweek: index holds near 7495 after Tuesday push, 2026-07-20

SPX500 sits at 7494.7 midweek, up about 32 points from Monday's open, with the 7510 to 7514 ceiling still the fight.

Where ADAUSD stands midweek

As of Wednesday's close, ADAUSD trades at 0.1710. That is up from Monday's open of 0.1656, a gain of roughly 3.3 percent on the week so far. The high so far this week is 0.1770, printed Tuesday, and the low is 0.1602, set early Monday. Wednesday itself has been a fade, with price slipping from a 0.1731 open back toward 0.1710.

What has driven price so far

The bid came in a broad risk-on session. Headlines through Tuesday flagged USD/JPY running to a fresh 40 year high above 163 as equities, yields and oil all gained together. That risk appetite carried into higher-beta crypto, and ADAUSD took the Monday and Tuesday legs up while volume was heaviest early in the week. Wednesday's volume dropped sharply, which lines up with the pullback into 0.1710 rather than any fresh catalyst.

What's still ahead

The ECB Main Refinancing Rate and Monetary Policy Statement land Thursday at 12:15, with the rate expected to hold at 2.40 percent and the press conference following at 12:45. A hold with dovish guidance tends to feed the same risk appetite that lifted crypto this week. If the tone reads hawkish and the dollar firms, the week's lows near 0.1602 come back into the conversation. The second event to watch is Australian Employment Change on Thursday at 01:30, forecast at 16.4K against a prior 40.3K, with the unemployment rate seen holding 4.4 percent. A soft print reinforces the broad risk backdrop; a strong one gives the dollar-sensitive tape something to chew on.

Positioning right now

As of Wednesday, LHFX client positioning shows 67.4 percent long against 32.6 percent short. That is a clear long skew midweek, and it says consensus has already bought the risk-on move. A crowded long book is worth watching into the ECB event, because a disappointment can force the fastest unwind.

The level that matters today

Price is pinned between the Tuesday high at 0.1770 and the round 0.1700 handle just below current trade. If ADAUSD holds 0.1700 through Thursday's ECB decision, the Tuesday high at 0.1770 comes back into view. If 0.1700 gives way, the Monday low at 0.1602 is the next reference on the downside. If you want the tools to track these levels in real time, you can open a trading account with LHFX.
