Silver opened Monday at 58.273 and closed Friday at 62.70 on XAGUSD. The week's low printed at 56.527 on Monday, and the high reached 62.871 on Thursday. That is a net advance of about 4.43 points, or roughly 7.7 percent, with buyers in control from Tuesday onward.
The trading calendar carried no scheduled economic releases for the metal itself, so price took its cue from the dollar and rate backdrop. The Asia-Pacific FX wrap on 6 August flagged the dollar moving higher with yields ahead of the US jobs report, yet silver held its gains and pushed to a fresh weekly high the next session, a sign real demand was absorbing the stronger greenback.
The PBOC also set a weaker yuan fix than the market expected on 7 August. A softer fix can shift flows across the metals complex, and silver's momentum stayed intact through it. Gold moved on the same dollar and yields story, and you can compare the two on the Gold page.
The bundle lists no scheduled high-impact events for the coming week on this instrument. In the absence of fixed data points, watch the dollar and Treasury yields as the primary drivers. If yields push higher and the dollar firms, silver typically faces headwinds and can give back part of a fast rally. If yields ease and the dollar softens, the metal tends to find support and momentum buyers step back in.
LHFX client positioning shows 62.9 percent long against 37.1 percent short as of 7 August. That is a clear bullish skew that lines up with the week's rally. A crowded long book leaves the market exposed if price stalls, because late longs can be forced out quickly on any sharp reversal.
The Thursday high at 62.871 caps the week. If price closes above that level, the round 63.00 handle is the next obvious reference. If it rejects there, attention shifts back toward the Wednesday close near 62.176. A deeper pullback puts the Tuesday high at 60.015 and the round 60.00 area back in play.
