ETHUSD midweek: holding near 1905 with the Fed on deck, 2026-07-27

ETHUSD sits near 1905 midweek, down from Monday's open, as traders wait on the FOMC decision Wednesday evening and US GDP plus core PCE Thursday.

Where GBPUSD stands midweek

As of Wednesday's close, GBPUSD trades at 1.33018. That is up about 12 pips from Monday's open at 1.33503, though the path was not straight. The week's high sits at 1.3363, printed Monday, and the low at 1.32731 came Tuesday. Cable has spent the first half of the week grinding inside that range rather than picking a direction.

What has driven price so far

The dollar did the heavy lifting. Forexlive noted the greenback moving lower Tuesday as markets flipped and crude oil eased, which pulled cable off its Tuesday low of 1.32731 and let it recover back toward 1.3300. Monday's early push to 1.3363 faded fast, and the pair closed that session at 1.32894, well off the highs. Wednesday's grind back to 1.33018 tracks that softer dollar tone more than any pound-specific catalyst.

What's still ahead

The economic calendar in this bundle is empty for the back half of the week, so price action Thursday and Friday leans on dollar flow and technical levels rather than a scheduled release. Watch the broader dollar theme flagged by forexlive. If the greenback stays soft and cable holds above 1.3300, the Monday high near 1.3363 comes back into view. If the dollar firms, Tuesday's 1.32731 low is the first test lower.

Positioning right now

Sentiment as of Wednesday morning is almost dead even: 50.1 percent long against 49.9 percent short. That is about as neutral as positioning gets. Consensus has no conviction midweek, which fits the tight range cable has traded. A near even book means neither side is trapped, so a clean break either way faces little forced unwinding.

The level that matters today

The round 1.3300 handle is the pivot right now, with price hovering just above it at 1.33018. If cable holds 1.3300 into Thursday, the 1.3363 high from Monday is the level to watch above. If it slips back under, the 1.32731 low from Tuesday becomes the line that matters. GBP/USD often moves in step with other dollar pairs, so a firmer dollar would likely weigh on AUD/USD at the same time. You can track cable and the wider dollar picture on the LHFX platform once your account is open.
