How last week left SOLUSD

SOLUSD opened Monday 2026-10-05 at 121.47 and closed Friday 2026-10-09 at 108.99. That is a net loss of 10.3% across the five sessions. The damage was concentrated in one day. Thursday 2026-10-08 opened at 116.17, printed a high of 116.67, then collapsed to 105.56 before closing at 109.48 on volume of 61,602, the heaviest of the week. Monday and Tuesday had already failed twice near 121.90, so the break through Wednesday's 115.13 low found very little underneath it.

What this week is about

There are no scheduled high-impact calendar events for SOLUSD in this week's bundle. That matters more than it sounds. When the data diary is empty, price action gets driven by positioning and by whatever macro headline happens to land. The one item already on the tape is the PBOC USD/CNY reference rate, which Reuters estimated at 6.6977 ahead of the Monday fix. Crypto reacts to the dollar side of that equation rather than the yuan side, and a firmer dollar backdrop has been an unhelpful one for high-beta coins all month.

The secondary theme is repair. Friday closed at 108.99, holding above Thursday's 105.56 low, and Friday's volume of 38,541 came in well below Thursday's panic print. A market that stops accelerating is not the same as a market that has turned, and the opening sessions of this week will tell you which of those you are looking at. Scenarios for the week

If price reclaims Friday's 111.89 high early in the week and holds it on a daily close, the next obvious reference is Wednesday's 116.17 close, with 118.76 above that as the base of the Monday and Tuesday range. If that reclaim fails and sellers defend 111.89, Thursday's 105.56 low comes back into focus as the level the market has to prove it no longer needs to test. A clean break under 105.56 leaves nothing from last week's range underneath price.

Watch the correlation as well. If BTCUSD stabilises while SOLUSD keeps leaking, that is a single-asset story rather than a broad crypto one, and the two behave differently in that case. If both fall together, treat the move as beta rather than anything specific to Solana.

Positioning into the new week

As of 2026-10-12, retail positioning sits at 61.1% long against 38.9% short. That is a meaningful long skew into an asset that just lost 10.3% in five sessions. The read is straightforward: a majority of participants are holding into the drawdown rather than cutting, which leaves a pool of underwater longs above the market. Rallies into that supply can stall, and further downside can accelerate when those positions give up. A crowded book is not a direction, but it does tell you where the fuel sits.

Levels to watch

Start with the 105.56 Thursday low, the week's floor and the line the market defended once. The 111.89 Friday high is the nearest overhead pivot and the first thing buyers need back on a closing basis. Above that sits 116.17, Wednesday's close and the midpoint of the breakdown candle. These are reference levels drawn from last week's range, not entry signals, and they carry no implication about where price goes next.
