EURUSD midweek: euro slips toward 1.1534, week of 2026-08-10

EURUSD sits at 1.1534 midweek, down about 21 pips from Monday's open, with the pair grinding lower inside a tight range.

Where XAGUSD stands midweek

As of Wednesday's close, XAGUSD trades at 65.255. That is up from Monday's open of 63.484, a gain of roughly 1.77 dollars, or about 2.8 percent on the week so far. The high this week is 66.444, set Tuesday, and the low is 62.95, printed Monday. The metal spiked early, gave back ground Tuesday, then steadied into Wednesday.

What has driven price so far

The dollar side of the tape did the talking. The PBOC set its USD/CNY mid-point weaker than the Reuters estimate on Wednesday. A softer yuan fixing than expected leans dollar-supportive, and that headwind capped silver's push back toward Tuesday's 66.444 high. Price held above 64.67 into the close rather than unwinding the whole Monday move.

What's still ahead

The calendar this back half is thin, so price action carries more weight than scheduled data. Watch the daily PBOC fixing into Thursday and Friday. If the fix keeps printing weaker than the Reuters estimate, the dollar bid stays firm and silver has to fight to reclaim 66.00. If the fixings drift back toward estimate, that pressure eases and Tuesday's 66.444 high comes back into view.

Positioning right now

As of Wednesday, the book reads 62.9 percent long and 37.1 percent short. That is a clear tilt toward buyers midweek. Consensus is leaning with the week's recovery off 62.95, though a long-heavy book also means more traders are positioned to be squeezed if price rolls over.

The level that matters today

65.72 is the immediate line, Wednesday's high and the last barrier before the round 66.00 handle. Hold above 65.25 and buyers keep the initiative toward that zone. Lose 64.67, the low of the last two sessions, and Monday's 62.95 base is back in the conversation. Silver's cousin, Gold, is worth a glance for confirmation of any broader metals move before you open a live account and set your levels.
