EURUSD midweek: euro slips toward 1.1534, week of 2026-08-10

EURUSD sits at 1.1534 midweek, down about 21 pips from Monday's open, with the pair grinding lower inside a tight range.

Where AUDUSD stands midweek

AUDUSD trades at 0.70604 as of Wednesday's close, roughly 1 pip below Monday's open of 0.70615. The move so far this week is essentially flat. The high sits at 0.7069, printed Tuesday, and the low is 0.70395, also printed Tuesday. Three sessions in, the pair has done a lot of chopping and gone almost nowhere.

What has driven price so far

The standout headline this week came from the PBOC, which set its USD/CNY mid-point weaker than the Reuters estimate looked for. A softer yuan fix tends to weigh on the Aussie, which tracks China proxy flows. The Tuesday dip to 0.70395 lined up with that signal before buyers pulled price back toward the middle of the range.

What's still ahead

The bundle carries no scheduled high-impact events for the back half of this week, so the driver stays the daily PBOC fix and China risk sentiment. If Beijing keeps fixing the yuan weaker than estimates into Thursday and Friday, pressure builds on the downside of the range. If the fixes come in closer to expectations, the Aussie has room to lean back toward the week's high. Watch the same headline flow that moved price Tuesday.

Positioning right now

As of Wednesday, sentiment reads 46.4 percent long and 53.6 percent short. The crowd is leaning short, but only just. That near-even skew tells you consensus midweek has no strong conviction, which fits a pair that has held a tight range for three sessions.

The level that matters today

The week's high at 0.7069 and the round 0.7050 handle bracket the current fight. If price holds above 0.7050 and pushes through 0.7069, the topside of the range opens up. If 0.7050 gives way, Tuesday's low at 0.70395 comes back into focus. Traders watching EUR/USD for a broader read on dollar direction can weigh both against the same session. If you want live pricing on the Aussie into Thursday, you can open an account with LHFX and follow the range in real time.
